THE FIRST STAGE OF THE WASH

The car wash starts from the roof. The top of the vehicle is sprayed with a jet of water or a generous amount of water is squeezed onto the surface of the roof with a sponge. Next, we wet the dirt adhering to the side surfaces of the car with water. It is important at the same time to wash off the dirt by directing the water jet parallel to the surface of the body. The pressure of water directed along the body will prevent the formation of additional cracks and microdents. Do not direct the water pressure opposite, perpendicular to the surface of the body. Unfortunately, it is often necessary to observe how the washer, using the full power of the pressure of the water or the swing of both arms, overturns a full bucket of water, standing in front of the body or windshields. It is also unacceptable to remove hardened dirt, applying considerable effort, by rubbing, scraping and smearing on the body. If brushes and rags are used in the process of washing a car, then a thick layer of dirt must be wiped off with simultaneous watering. It is necessary to wash off a thick layer of dirt very carefully, as the operation is very rough and there is a possibility of damage to the paintwork of the body. This is noticeable in the traces of light or dark stripes against the background of a uniform coating of the car.

THE SECOND STAGE OF THE WASH

After a large part of the dirt has been softened and removed from the car by dousing with water, the remaining small particles of dirt can be taken. It is not at all desirable to thin the wetted dirt by hand, with a rag or brush. It’s like wiping the surface of the body with sandpaper. As a result, micro-scratches and micro-cracks may appear. Note that a practical hostess, in order to avoid scratches on a polished table, will not wipe the table with a damp cloth, but will carefully shake off dust and specks with a soft brush, and only then will she collect all the debris with a vacuum cleaner. There are special solutions for hand washing that can soften and significantly reduce the adhesion of dirt to the surface of the car, so it would be prudent to use car shampoo for hand washing or special washing solutions. With a soft sponge dipped in a solution of a special detergent, carefully cover the car body with air foam, let it completely neutralize fine dirt and grease deposits. Next, we carry out the last water procedures on the car, thoroughly washing off the remnants of the applied shampoo and special chemicals.

THIRD STAGE – DRYING

Although drying is not the direct action to remove dirt from the car, it is an integral and important part of the car wash procedure. A well-dried car is a necessary protection against the effects of residual moisture. In summer, dust quickly sticks to a wet car, and in winter, moisture residues in microcracks can freeze and swell, and this should not be allowed! In this case, experts recommend covering the car with a wax composition, due to which external moisture is repelled from the surface of the car for quite a long time. Nowadays, many of the modern car washes combine the drying process with waxing the car. The car is rubbed with a liquid alcohol solution of wax immediately after washing. In this way, water droplets are displaced from those places where it usually accumulates, for example, in the lower openings of doors, including door locks, in recesses associated with the design features of the body design. As a result, water inevitably and, one might say, flows off the car on its own. The remaining drops of water are enough then only to blow off with a stream of air.
